Unlocking the Power: Strategic Platforms to Amplify Your Writing on Medium
So you have been trying your hand at writing on Medium, posting some articles for the whole world to read. Or you have identified your audience and written content you feel they would find valuable.
You eagerly look at your stats after publishing, but you see nothing: no views, no reads, no fans, no read ratio.
You feel let down and decide to give it some more time, hoping someone will discover your work. After several hours, you look at your stats again, but nothing has changed.
You get more frustrated as you think that your writing deserves better.
If this sounds familiar, you are missing something important about Medium: you have to go after the readers, they won’t come to you.
There are some things you need to first fix.
Next, to get more traction on Medium, you need to actively market your work to others and on different channels. Otherwise, your articles will just get lost in the huge ocean of Medium, where many other writers are competing for attention.
Here’s the list of platforms you can promote your writings on:
If you’ve been on Medium for a while you probably have been promoting on various Facebook groups for Medium and know what I’m talking about. People in the groups are generally friendly and helpful. Here is a list to help you out:
- Medium Partner Program Friends
- Medium Magic
- Medium Mastery
- Medium New Writers
- Medium Writers and Bloggers
- Medium Writing
- Medium Writers
Just don’t spam your posts and read the rules as they differ for each group.
I don’t know about everyone but if you have a good number of followers on Twitter. Why not, right?
According to our dear friend Wiki, Hacker News is a social news website focusing on computer science and entrepreneurship. So if that’s your niche, it’s a really helpful website to promote your pieces and fairly easy to navigate. It never failed to bring in two to three-digit views for me.
Now, I’m not a Pinterest wiz but someone from one of the Facebook Medium groups suggested that this is one of the good places to promote your writing. She uses Canva. They have pre-made, pre-sized templates for Pinterest and she pays for a premium account but stated that their free offerings are fantastic as well. After making the graphic, head to Pinterest, add a pin, upload the graphic, and add the link back to your Medium article (or blog or whatever you’re pinning). It boosts your SEO plus adds clickable content to your Pinterest presence.
Ello is an online social networking service and was created as an ad-free alternative to existing social networks. It has pivoted from its earlier Facebook-like incarnation toward a Pinterest-like website showcasing art, photography, fashion, and web culture. Check out this this Ello profile here. A good example of traction.
As a writer, the question arises: why should one invest in promoting articles on LinkedIn? Curiosity led me to consult with fellow Medium writers, and an overwhelming majority suggested giving LinkedIn promotion a shot.
I urge you to embark on this experiment and share your experiences with me. Let’s uncover the untapped potential of LinkedIn as a platform for amplifying our written works and discover the opportunities it holds for us in the realm of professional networking and engagement.
All my uploaded Medium pieces are promoted on ManyStories. I managed to receive a few views linking back to the site and it takes about less than 20 seconds to do it so it’s not such a time-waster. Check mine out! Also, it has a chat community called PenChat where you can ask questions and boost your articles. Again, just don’t spam. Here’s the link to the chat boxes.
Medium Partner Program Friends has the best subreddit for submitting Medium stories with almost 300 members and dozens of posts each day. Once you copy the URL of your Medium piece, the title is automatically generated. This also boosts the native SEO of your Medium stories. Here’s the link.
Thanks for reading. If you found it valuable, leave some claps. Don’t forget to upvote other posts. 😊
